The uniform has to be modelled on one of your group members. Needs to be appealing – you would want to wear it. Can be held together with anything, except sticky tape. Everything has to be made out of recycled materials. A very limited supply will be here at school. You will need to supply all your own materials, including what you will use to hold your clothes together. Your challenge is to design and make a new school uniform (shirt and skirt or shorts), using only recycled materials – for example: newspaper, plastic bags, bottle caps. Your school is taking part in the new “Recycled Fashion Week” and need to design an uniform, out of entirely recycled materials, that could be used as a new school uniform. After the presentation, students write their individual reflection. Students will finish writing their report, and present their clothes to the rest of the class. Students will finish making their clothes and start writing their report, ready to be presented in the next lesson. Students will look at the design brief, and begin designing their uniform. Outline the design brief and have students break into their groups and start brainstorming materials they can use to make their uniform. Students will be introduced to recycling (videos, web pages, handouts) and what materials can be recycled. In this unit, students will be introduced to the recycling of materials (such as newspaper, plastic bags and bottle caps) by creating a school uniform.
